I have a presentation tomorrow and 20 pages to write before next week, so I thought I would write a blog post.

  •  I'm so over existential crises. It's a bunch of navel-gazing nonsense. So what if I don't know why I'm doing what I'm doing, or what I'm going to do with my life, or how I'm going to make money to buy bread? I'm not bothered by it anymore, and nobody's going to stop me.
  • "That's what Jagulars always do", said Pooh, much interested. "They call 'Help! Help!' and then when you look up, they drop on you."
  • At some point last year, I think it was, I stopped being afraid of making bad grades, and I stopped being scared of professors. It's a lot harder to get motivated for school without being afraid, I think.
  • Chesterton on Cheese is good.
  • Riding my bike to school in the mornings is exhilarating. It was uncomfortable, and then it become cold. And now it's exciting.
  • A Tolkien quote: "The Evangelium has not abrogated legends; it has hallowed them, especially the 'happy ending.' The Christian has still to work, with mind as well as body, to suffer, hope, and die; but he may now perceive that all his bents and faculties have a purpose, which can be redeemed. So great is the bounty with which he has been treated that he may now, perhaps, fairly dare to guess that in Fantasy he may actually assist in the effoliation and multiple enrichment of creation. All tales may come true; and yet, at the last, redeemed, they may be as like and unlike the forms that we give them as Man, finally redeemed, will be like and unlike the fallen that we know."
  • Christmas break is going to be nice, I think. I'll watch "It's a Wonderful Life" with my family, and "Elf" at least a few times. I hope to go see the Nutcracker. I'll read War and Peace (I hope). I'm going to drink a Guinness with my brother at Sean Cummings Pub. I'll be going on the RUF winter retreat, and maybe a road trip. I'm going to spend a lot of time at my sister's and my mom's and visit friends in Cashion.

I wish I could simply decide not to be bothered by anything...

Good post. Shoving blogposts in the face of deadlines is exhilarating as well. I made a hobby out of that.

Your break sounds pretty great. But I don't get the Elf obsession. Maybe cause I've only seen it once, in high school.

You mentioned in the past a trip to Tulsa over the break - I think this should stay in the plans.
